Post Apocalypse Baseball Anyone?

We all wonder what our hobbies and interests will be like after the apocalypse. I, for one, will have to give up on my comic book collection. Sure, I’ll be able to raid comic stores and read them, but they’ll be way to heavy too keep and carry around. Chances are they’ll end up as firestarter, like the library books in The Day After Tomorrow.

For all you baseball fans out there, I’m sure you’ve wondered if anyone will play after the Big Bad goes down. I bet they will, in some form or another. Who knows, baseball might even end up as some kind of win or be killed game like basketball in Escape from L.A.

Back to current real life, if we look closer at the semi-apocalypse currently going down in Baltimore, we can catch a potential glimpse of post-apocalyptic baseball. This week, the first ever fan-less baseball game was played between the Baltimore Orioles and Chicago White Sox. Imagine a professional baseball game where it’s too dangerous to allow people to watch it. Yes, this is happening now.

Will You Build Your Hideaway this Year?

Here’s your update of survival goodness, but as this is the first post here for the year, I want the most important item to be a question…

WILL THIS YEAR BE THE ONE YOU TAKE ACTION?

I don’t know where you’re at right now, but…

Will you finally put together your go-bag?

Will you get training on _________(insert class name here_______?

Will you buy that piece of land and start building a hideaway?

OR…

Will you continue to wallow in self-complacency and just sit back and wait until something bad happens?

While you’re thinking about that, here are your updates…

Got a few bucks to spend on a zombie-proof cabin? Check out THESE.

I watched a really good post-apocalypse movie the other day called Goodbye World. It was intensely realistic and focused primarily on interpersonal relationships and slow societal breakdown. The big bad was a power grid failure along with the loss of distribution pathways for food and other goods and the confluence of events that happened after.

Ever heard of Enterovirus D68?

Here’s a cautionary tale about the importance of good light bulbs in your shelter…

My friends at ITS Tactical posted a great article on repackaging meds for go bags. It’s HERE.

Ferguson MO Spurs Several Localized Apocalypse Events

This post was written by a friend of our site in law enforcement who wises to remain anonymous for reasons of safety.

Please be careful as you travel through large American cities in the next few weeks. The events currently happening in Ferguson MO are not over and are likely to spread further. The recent funeral for Michael Brown and comments by Al Sharpton are calling black Americans to incite a race war in America.

Talks about racial issues and problems are one thing, but the respondents to Sharpton’s comments seldom engage in dialogue. This is evidenced by the manner in which they looted their own town following the shooting.

Cities like Atlanta, Birmingham, Detroit, and Chicago are potential sites for riots and other violent actions instigated by Sharpton and others. Be careful as you go there for work or visits. Many of America’s large cities can be easily overrun by rioters and transformed into miniature apocalypse zones as they overwhelm civil authorities and ordinary citizens are unprepared or unwilling to defend themselves.

Apocalypse Training in Ferguson MO

It’s sad what’s happening in Ferguson MO, especially since the whole thing started over a hooligan stealing cigars, but the unrest presents a rare opportunity for preppers to conduct training.

You see, right now, Ferguson MO and the surrounding areas are in a mini-apocalypse of their own. Conditions there greatly resemble the time coming when civilians will flood the streets creating their own law and their own justice. Food and other items will be scarce. You’ll encounter government checkpoints on all sides and nighttime curfews. The rule of law and respect for the authority vested in law enforcement has been tabled.

Now is the time for you serious preppers to either hide in the shelter or go operational. If you’re serious about training for the coming apocalypse, you should be on your way to Missouri right now.

Here’s how to do it right-

  • Fly or drive in somewhere outside of Ferguson in the safe zone.
  • Outfit the way you plan to during the apocalypse with a backpack, a pull wagon behind you, a motorcycle with panniers, or whatever you have planned. Outfit for no more than you can carry. Any other supplies you need have to be obtained in the zone.
  • Go on into the red zone where the violence is occurring.
  • Live there for a week. No hotels either. Live like you would in the big bad. Either stay on the street or negotiate to stay with people.
  • At the end of the week, walk out through the checkpoints and find a hotel or a campsite for a few days.
  • Complete an after-action report before you head back home and let us know how you do. We need lessons learned, mistakes made, and good stories from the inside.

So many of you talk big about being prepped for a disaster but few of you have any real operational experience. Now, let’s see how many are wiling to try it. If you’re scared, just think about the reporters that do this all the time. They’re there now. Are you more afraid than they are?
