apocalypse- a great disaster : a sudden and very bad event that causes much fear, loss, or destruction
The word apocalypse comes from an ancient Greek word meaning ‘un-covering’. Translated literally from Greek, it means a disclosure of knowledge, i.e. a lifting of the veil or revelation. Biblically speaking, it usually only refers to the events of the Book of Revelation, the last book of the New Testament. In non-religious terms, most people view it as meaning the end of the world in some way or another.
I prefer a point-of-view that combines both the definition and the various perspectives.
In the simplest sense of the word, an apocalypse is an unfortunate event that changes the world as we know it. In the course of that action, we see an uncovering of people and how they react when all pretense and normality is stripped away. It doesn’t have to be a global disaster either, because apocalyptic events also occur on smaller scales during times of disaster, either man-made or natural.
Please explore the apocalypse with us as we look at different causes from zombies to aliens to economic crises and also look at how people prepare for them.
